Deacon is the epitome of the perfect retriever. He is a 75lb. handsome black lab (yellow factored), with a very muscular build. He will sit in a goose blind for hours and then retrieve marked and blind birds with unending desire and endurance. At an impressive one and a half years of age, Deac received his UKC Hunting Retriever and Hunting Retriever Champion titles. On August 4, 2007 he earned the AKC Master Hunter title. Along with his wonderful temperament, Deacon is a gun-dog hunter’s dream!		Shadow is a 6o lb. female with excellent upland and waterfowl retriever skills. She is relentless when it comes to tracking and flushing out pheasants, quail and grouse. Shadow’s Sire, Sievers Hard Huntin Hunter, is one of the top stud dogs in the entire state of Illinois. Shadow received both the UKC Hunting Retriever title and the AKC Junior Hunter title, despite having a litter last year. A typical hard-working mother! Shadow exemplifies the wonderful combination of a great companion that always gets the job done.

Our Breeding Philosophy

Our Mud Creek Retrievers willingness and desire to learn and retrieve are the strengths of our breeding success.  We take a lot of consideration into planning our two-to-four litters per year with our highly accomplished retrievers.  We pride ourselves in the fact that we only breed Sires and Dams that have AKC & UKC hunt titles.

We consider our dogs and their puppies a part of our family.  Our whelping and puppy area comfortably accommodates Mom and her new pups so they can receive all the love and care they deserve.  We understand that the first 8 weeks of a pups life is crucial and we have two veterinarians that are on call 24/7. 
During this time the pups are:

• Checked by our vets and have dewclaws removed between three and five days old.
• Exposed to sounds and people.
• Wormed and first series of shots.
• Puppies weaned and fed Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy food.
• Exposed to airing in yard and playing.
• Introduced to birds and water (weather permitting).
• Puppies ready to go to their new homes between 6 & 8 weeks.

The puppies are ready to go home with their new owners by eight weeks old.  New owners will receive their own individual Puppy Packet, which includes:

• Pictures of the Dam & Sire
• Dam & Sire pedigrees
• Dam & Sire AKC & UKC registrations
• Dam & Sire Hunt Test titles earned
• Puppy vet records, health guarantee, and AKC registration information.

Whelping Services

We understand how busy families are and that is why we have created a whelping program for owners who may have other commitments during the time their beloved female is ready to have a litter.

We offer customized whelping services for approved females starting anytime after mating.  We prefer the female to arrive a minimum of two weeks prior to the whelping date in order for her to feel comfortable with her surroundings and us.  This will help to reduce any anxiety she may be feeling, thus leading to an easier and less stressful whelping.  Our comfortable whelping room has a secure, heated whelping box for pups and Mom has indoor/outdoor run access.  

We consistently monitor the female throughout the entire whelping process.  We have access to 24 hour veterinary services through our local, accessible and highly accredited, Miller Veterinarian Clinic.
